The original social network
Despite all the attention paid to social media these days, email remains everyone’s favorite way to share content. No surprise, really, when you consider what a remarkably useful tool it still is. It’s a place where you can share your professional information with an employer, or a personal confession with a friend. And of course, you can send that sardonic hamster video to everyone you know.

Everyone's doing it
Email is such an integral part of our lives that we spend 33% of our online time there.* Even the most active social network butterflies rely on it to help them share content. In fact, 99% of those who share on a social site also do so via email.+ That’s a lot more than you can say for other mass communications platforms like Twitter.
And you can use all the characters you want.

A good thing made better
At AOL, we've cleaned up our act by removing superfluous ads from our Mail pages. The result more impact for advertisers, and a better-looking, more trustworthy experience for users.
